The TGB Fashion Files – Sister Of The Groom | Niharika Kadiyala

By TGB Desk / On October 9th, 2017

Hello Dearies, Today we are launching a new feature called ‘The TGB Fashion Files’ dedicated to all the stylish brides, grooms, sisters and brothers of the bride / groom (and friends of course!). You know, as wedding bloggers we get to witness a lot of weddings and these young fashionistas never fail to astonish us with their amazing sense of style. They always seem to know what’s in fashion and what’s not. No matter what, they always manage to look stylish, elegant and cool. And how they do it is just beyond our comprehension. We are so fascinated by their fashion sense that we decided to do the obvious – speak to them and feature them!

Today we are bringing you the first feature in this series –

TGB Sister Of The Groom

Introducing Niharika…

“Oh, it was such an emotional moment for me. I was so happy! Tears rolled down my face as I saw my brother tie the knot,” says a visibly overwhelmed Niharika as she browses through the pics in the wedding album. “Oh, really? I thought you were happy as you could shop all you want on the pretext of my wedding!” teases Ravinder. “Huh! What? Please don’t go by his words. I was really happy for him. This is how he keeps teasing his little sister even now. Can you believe it?” she protests and adds “To be frank, I was super happy to welcome Sowji home. In fact, we have joined forces now. Let’s see what he has to say to this.” Niharika winks at Sowjanya and smiles.

“See, this is how both of them fight. She is a practicing doctor (a radiologist) and he is a software engineer (with Apple) and yet, when at home, they squabble like kids!” chips in their mom. All of us laugh at this and Niharika proceeds to give us the details of the outfits she bought for her brother’s wedding.

Wedding Shopping Experience

The month preceeding the wedding was extremely stressful for all of us, what with all the shopping escapades during the day and Sangeeth practice sessions during evenings. Oh, did you by any chance think that we rested during nights? Nah! That was the time for dress rehearsals. And by the way, there were countless venue visits and innumerable decor and menu discussions. It was crazy. But we had super fun!

For the engagement, I wanted to go for an outfit in softer hues. I scouted a lot of shops to find a pastel lehenga and finally found it in Ogaan Store. The moment I saw this gorgeous lemon yellow lehenga by Anushree Reddy Label, I fell in love with it. It’s teamed up with a pale pink blouse and a beige dupatta. I felt it would be perfect for a day ceremony.

During my growing up years, I would see my mom drape lush Kanjeevarams and accessorise with temple jewelry for weddings. And ever since then, I always wanted to wear Kanjeevaram for my brother’s wedding. So when my mom announced that we would be going to Kanchipuram for saree shopping, I just jumped with joy. I bought a beautiful royal blue Kanjeevaram saree with a pink border from the famous Babusah shop in Kanchi. To say that it’s gorgeous is an understatement!

I bought another beautiful Kanjeevaram saree (Orange) from Shri Varamahalakshmi (Hyderabad) too. I got the blouses made by Mugdha Art Studio

The reception was in the evening and I decided to sport a metallic hued outfit. But I was very sure that I wanted to wear something traditional. So I decided on a half-saree with sequin work. I wanted it to look classy with a touch of sparkle. It took a while to find a designer who understood my requirements. Finally, I got in touch with Malwika Talwar and she helped me make my metallic outfit dreams come true! Oh, it was gorgeous!! The first time I laid my eyes on the outfit, I was overjoyed. She made a perfect sequinned lehenga with a matching blouse and a pastel pink dupatta. And delivered it on time. She is amazing!!

When it comes to jewelry, I am not much of a gold person. I wanted something that’s sleek and sophisticated. So bought diamond jewelry sets (complete with armlets and waistbelt) from Krishna Jewellers, Pearls & Gems and Tanishq
