A Tale Of Holiday Romance | Priyadarshini & Anil

By TGB Desk / On December 27th, 2016

“My mother has sensed, right from the beginning, that something was brewing between us. But she never voiced her doubts! So, you can say she was also a partner in crime!” laughs Priya as she recounts her love story for TGB.

Our Love Story
“I met Anil almost 10 years back. I was in high school when our family decided to visit Bapatla, Andhra Pradesh (We are from Tamil Nadu) for summer holidays along with my best friend’s family. They are from Andhra and had relatives there. Anil is a close cousin of my best friend. Quickly our families bonded and became thickest of friends”.

So from then onwards all the three families started meeting and travelling together every Summer. “We really don’t know when we started liking each other. And to think of it, we were always in the company of other kids. We had a huge gang,” says Priya.

“Even though love blossomed between us when we were high schoolers, we have always met when our families met. Not even once did we meet when the families were not around until we got married. Can you believe it?!” asks Priya with a smile. “When I was in my graduation, Anil decided to do his post graduation from the same college (for obvious reasons)”. For the next 4 years, the couple studied and worked in Chennai.

Finally, after a long wait they decided to break the news to their families about their relationship. “The families responded positively for two reasons – one, the families were really close. Two, both of us have finished college and were working. In other words, we were ready to settle down. So there was no reason to say ‘No’. In fact, they were really happy for us and blessed us wholeheartedly” grins the new bride.

It was a 5 day wedding celebration which included two Nalungu ceremonies, Sangeet, Wedding & Reception in Chennai and one more reception at Bapatla, A.P.
My Shopping Experience
“I had a very beautiful vision of a perfect wedding. So, I started researching about everything related to wedding an year before my wedding. I feel I had done so much research that had it been in any other subject I would have gotten myself a P.H.D!!!” guffaws Priya. “But jokes apart, I was really very particular about the details”.

“I bought all my wedding sarees from J.R Silks, Kancheepuram. It’s a well known shop and even my mom bought all her wedding sarees from this shop. I had my wedding blouse designed at Bapatla (Anil’s hometown) and all other blouses from Oyil Designer Studio, Chennai.

I always wanted to wear a beautiful pink lehenga for my reception. So, had checked almost of all the shops in Chennai and finally found a gorgeous pink lehenga at Moksha. Oh, and by the way, Anil bought all his wedding outfits from Moksha too. So, you can say it’s an excellent one stop destination for the whole family.

My Father-In-Law has a background in Jewellery, and so we bought all my jewellery with his help. The diamond set was custom designed from Hyderabad.

Wedding Vendors
“I was very particular on 3 things for my wedding – Decor, Makeup and Photography. I feel these things take the wedding to a whole new level. My dad had booked ‘Shrivaru Venkatachalapathy Palace, Vanagaram’ and the decoration was taken care of by CMN Decorators. They did an extraordinary job . The guests were all praises for the decoration as the backdrop was truly fabulous.

I was very specific on having Mr. Ibrahim as my makeup artist for wedding and reception. Luckily, I got his dates. His elegant and subtle work shows in all our wedding pics. The makeup for all other ceremonies was done by B3 Bridal Studio and they did a neat job as well.

Ashwin Th-Clicker Photography Team was very professional and friendly. The whole team thronged the Wedding mandapam (altar) and have not missed a single moment that’s capture worthy. Needless to say my wedding and reception pictures were classy and really beautiful. The photography for engagement and sangeet was done by my close friend Sharadha of Smiley Media and I must say those pictures were awesome!

The catering was done by ‘Namma Veetu Kalyanam’. They made scrumptious food. They have even catered to the taste of Andhra-ites who had come from my husband’s hometown for the wedding. They just loved the food. Eleneer payasam and orange ice cream were a great hit with the crowd”.
Fun Moments
There is this custom where the maternal uncles have to carry the bride who is seated in a decorated bamboo basket. I was really nervous and felt they would struggle to carry it. But to my surprise they did it with ease!

I also loved it when my friends danced for our entry during the reception. And my sister had arranged for a flash mob and it was a total surprise for us. Loved every bit of it.

“All our family members, especially my mom and sister, have contributed in making this ‘fairytale wedding’ dream come true. I just wish I could re-live the moments again”.

PS: We went to Bali for our honeymoon! The breath taking locales and panoramic view made me fall in love with my Hero ‘Anil’ all over again!!! 🙂
