Dress Your Bridesmaids Well!

In any wedding the Bride is undoubtedly the centerpiece of the whole affair but the day of the ugly, unusable bridesmaid dress is over.  The best bridesmaid dresses not only complement the bride and underline the wedding primary theme but also are stunning in their own right and the wedding party members are happy that they will have dresses they can wear at several other points in their lives.

I do like the wedding shop at Nordstrom's for bridesmaids as well as brides.  As the bride you are the grand overall designer, but your Matron of Honor is probably a great source for advice and counsel.  If nothing else, one of her jobs is to hold your hand throughout these planning days.  She knows how stressful wedding planning can be.  Mine was fantastic help to me and we did the whole thing together and frankly, it was a breeze.  We also made sure to include the rest of the wedding party at an early stage and we all had fun with it.  Actually, it was a hoot from beginning to end. Hope you can do the same and enjoy your wedding.

It has always seemed that the subject of bridesmaids dresses meets with groans and that's really a pity. It can and should be a really stimulating and satisfying part of the whole plan and you'll know pretty quickly if you've hit the nail on the head or not. Don't be stuffy and stick to something that they all hate with a passion. Yes, you are the boss but be a little flexible particularly as to final color shades and fabric choices. And shoes and accessories of course. 

Back to business at hand and Nordstrom's Wedding Shop.  Let's try full length gowns in satin first and see what might be available.  Oh, this one's a good start.  It's a Nicole Miller Square Neck (hides a few imperfections!) Gown in royal blue satin. Gracious and suitable for a mature wedding party, don't you think? Nordstrom item #9726 and price is $238 which is pretty good, right?  

Now here is an As U Wish dress in a shorter length and very reasonably priced. It's a two tone party dress but I think fine for a bridesmaid dress and comes in a variety of colors. Contrast mesh overlays an adorable dress, styled with a sweetheart neckline and a ruched bust. Tulle-trimmed lining adds extra volume. Back zip. Boning in the bodice and an elasticized back for a secure fit. Approx. length from top center front to hem: 36".  This is Nordstrom's item #187579 and the price a very affordable $74.

One more full length gown that would grace any bridesmaid  and live to be worn as a formal gown on other occasions. Mary L. Couture Rhinestone Matte Jersey Gown. In a deep pink or black. Tonal rhinestones create a glittery scooped neck on a matte jersey gown with side bodice ruching. Open back draws attention with a deep cut and ruched skirt, accented with a flirty panel for a ruffled effect. Nordstrom's item # 218301 and the price $346.

So give your bridesmaids the elegance they deserve and allow them to draw those gasps of wonder as they process in front of you, up the aisle of the Church.  They deserve it for all their hard work in rehearsal and at the ceremony itself.
