Elegant Wedding Gowns

 

Your Wedding Day is that one special event that always will bring joy your whole married life. Regardless of what the future will bring, this day will always be special  and marks a time that is among the happiest in your life. So an elegant wedding dress will always be a top priority for a bride. The 21st Century marriage ceremony can be traditional or contemporary. There will be much fun on the day but a key ingredient will remain - a gorgeous, elegant gown that you will treasure and everyone will remember. 

As the world shrinks, the wedding dresses emanate from all over the globe. Sarongs and colorful saris can be found alongside linen pants in a lot of stores. There is a  a wide variety of fabric options such as taffeta, chiffon, georgette, crepe, gauze, linen, etc.

You can try out that colorful sari, which your friend was wearing in her Indian-style wedding.  No longer is the sari limited to Indian born brides. You could try out a lovely sarong that has traveled the globe. You can look at that fantastic radical design in a skirt or a top that has been designed by your very own designer. While agreeing that you can wear anything you want to a wedding. many would argue that  it has to be trendy to be memorable. That's ridiculous! Some of the loveliest brides are those who choose a completely traditional look.  It depends on the style and location of the wedding, the type of ceremony and the personal preference of the bride herself.

In the final analysis, I think the most important thing is for the gown to fit the bride's personality and style.  She knows best what suits her type and temperament. I hate to see a bride pick a dress that is "foreign" to her.  It never works.  So beware the pushy planner of bridal shop proprietor who only wants to offload a slow mover of is trying to maximize their profit. 

Some designers are doing  good work in the wedding design arena. The Nicole Miller Metallic Bustier Stretch Taffeta Dress is a perfect example. It is a shimmery Italian silver gown that hugs your shape and gives you a lot of support all day. It's crinkled surface proveds that "give' that supplies that comfy feel. It's in polyester/ nylon/ elastane/ metallic fiber. Find this dress at Nordstrom, Their item # 216971 and the price $620 which I think is very reasonable for this special dress. 

Here's another of the newer designer's offerings. A Sue Wong Beaded Gown with deep V back. Beaded and scalloped embroidery sweeps across a silk-lined mesh gown, unexpectedly glamorous with sheer illusion insets at the deep V-back sides. Godet hem flows to a back train for an elegant exit. It's Nordstrom's item # 206650 and is priced at $488.  Very pretty indeed.

And this is a short dress that would really work for a beach or informal affair.  Carmen Marc Valvo's Satin Drape Front Halter. A soft sweep of satin cascades from the inset Empire waist of a V-neck dress, falling to just below the hemline. Back zip with hook-and-eye closure. Straps tie behind neck. Approx. length from base of neckline to hem: 33". Fully lined. Nordstrom's item # 21935. Price $500.  This has a really modern look to it.

As a bride you do need a theme and a location. But most importantly, you are the Star this one day!  Make sure that the gown you choose matches theme, location - yes.  But make certain that it is "you" and not someone else's idea of who you are or should be.  It's your wedding - remember!
